Seeking help from support groups after the loss of your cat

Whether the loss of your cat was a sudden occurrence or a tough decision you had to make on your own, it can be hard to cycle through the emotions and move past the tragic event. In the same way that people can seek help after the loss of a family member, there are pet bereavement counseling programs available to help.

Sometimes it can be beneficial just to talk and cycle through the many emotions that come with losing your feline, and that is what a support group is there for. With a series of trained counselors available who understand exactly the kinds of emotions you're dealing with, this could be an effective outlet to find closure.

These meetings are open to anyone, so if you feel that you can't handle the experience on your own, consider bringing a friend or family member. Most importantly, one of the immediate benefits of these programs is that you will be with like-minded individuals who have overcome their loss, and may have even decided to adopt a cat again. If you're interested, Bideawee holds Pet Loss Support Groups every month at all three of our locations in the New York area.
