Mike Rueb

Behavior and Training Manger

Michael Rueb joined Bideawee in 2002 after returning to Long Island from Albany, NY with a degree in Biology. Looking to gain hands-on experience with animals and with dreams of veterinary school, Mike initially came to Bideawee as a Kennel Associate in Westhampton. With his education in animal behavior and his love for training, in 2003 Mike took on a new position as the Behavior Coordinator in Westhampton. Mike received his CPDT (Certified Pet Dog Trainer) certification and became the Manager of Animal Behavior and Training for all Bideawee within two years. Mike has introduced several new Bideawee programs, open to the public, such as Puppy and Kitty Kindergarten classes and affordable one-on-one training.

Mike's recent work on new organization-wide policies and procedures for the intake of animals, the institution of case management, Bideawee's Bill of Rights for resident canines and felines has enhanced the quality of life of the animals here at Bideawee. Bideawee's Behavior and Training Department has significantly reduced the number of animals returned after being adopted and has brought Bideawee to the innovative forefront in community education and high-quality care for Adoption Center animals.
