Hold the Date – Wednesday, November 4, 2009 - To See a Special Concert Featuring Past "Luisa" Stars in Celebration of "The Fantastiks" 50th Year Anniversary on Broadway.
A "Night of 1,000 Luisas" starring actresses in the lead role from 1960 to the present is a benefit concert being staged on behalf of Bideawee. "The Fantasticks," the longest running musical on Broadway, welcomes 12 actresses who have played the role of Luisa. Each performing selected repertoires at the Snapple Theater Center's Jerry Orbach Theater on 50th and Broadway. Curtain time is 7:00pm.
Luisa, the musical's ingénue in this romantic comedy, has been played by many of Broadway's leading ladies. A "Night of 1,000 Luisas" concert will welcome back 12 Luisa stars to "The Fantasticks" stage. Among the performers and post-Fantasticks Broadway credits are: Jennifer Lee Andrews ("Les Miserables"), Alice Cannon ("The Dead"), Glory Crampton, Karen Culliver ("Phantom of the Opera"), Carole Demas ("Grease"), Jean Louisa Kelly ("In the Woods"), Marty Morris ("A Little Night Music"), Allison Munn (TV: "That 70s Show"), Sarah Rice ("Sweeney Todd"), Sara Schmidt ("Jersey Boys"), and the original Luisa, Rita Gardner ("Pal Joey").
