Pet Loss Support Group - Every 1st Friday of the month

Location: Manhattan

Time: 10:00am - 11:00am

At Bideawee, we believe that our four-legged companions are important parts of the family. Saying goodbye to our loving animal companions can be a tough and very emotional journey. Bideawee wants you to know that you are not alone. Since there are many people experiencing the same loss Bideawee is now providing a support system to deal with your loss.

Each support group is facilitated by one of Bideawee's qualified volunteers who specialize in animal bereavement.

Please contact Bideawee's Learning Center by the end of business on the Thursday before the 1st Friday of the month to register for this free service:

Joan Fromewick, LCSW, is a senior social work psychotherapist in private practice. She has extensive experience in the field of ILLNESS, LOSS and BEREAVEMENT, and has worked for many years with individuals, couples and families who have suffered the loss of a loved one, whether human or animal. Ms. Fromewick has found that people who have seriously ill pets or who have lost their animal companions go through much of the same kinds of grief as those experiencing human loss. Often complicating and prolonging this process is that our society doesn't recognize the importance of pets to our well-being and quality of life, and the lack of community resources to help people through this very painful and upsetting time. As both a therapist and pet owner, Ms.Fromewick strongly believes that no one should have to face this experience alone. She is pleased to facilitate a monthly bereavement support group for the Bideawee community.
