To learn more about Bideawee's Feline Weight Loss Challenge:

Bideawee's weight loss competition began with eight fur-nomenal yet flabby felines hoping to lose the extra pounds in an eight-week contest. Emily, a participant from our Manhattan center, had to drop out because of her diabetic condition, which left seven cats still in the running.
Well, the contest has come to an end after just four weeks, because all the cat participants from our Wantagh location were adopted (the only thing better than losing weight!). Here are the final tallies for each cat. Congratulations to them all - and special thanks to Halo for helping us track our contestants' paths toward better health!
Halo, Purely for Pets is helping Bideawee's pets with a New Year's resolution - to eat healthier and to lose weight - with a generous pet food donation for our resident cats and dogs!
As our pets wait for their chance to find permanent and loving homes, they need to stay healthy. Halo, Purely for Pets' products have focused on the well-being of pets for the past two decades, and their pet food lines are made of all-natural and healthy ingredients that improve cats' and dogs' appearances and health.
Halo, Purely for Pets donated $32,000 in canned pet food to support the dietary needs of our resident pets. By donating canned wet food, Halo, Purely for Pets has provided the food we're using for the cats in our "Feline Weight Loss Challenge" event, which will get some of our flabby feline friends back into shape!
Our Feline Weight Loss Challenge program began February 2nd with Domino and Missy in Westhampton; Jack, Dixie, Violet, and Suki in Wantagh; and Emily and Minky in Manhattan as our contestants. For these cats, weight loss will mean they become less at risk for diabetes, joint problems, and non-allergic skin conditions, as well as avoid the possibility of dying sooner from complications related to obesity.
Halo, Purely for Pets' veterinarian advisor, Dr. Donna Spector, suggests that one should "feed your pet differently. What type of diet is best for your pet? Commercial cat food is often high in carbohydrates, wreaking havoc on our kitties' blood sugar levels and digestive systems." Cat food that is all natural and meat-based can make your cat healthier and happier; and to keep them slender, make sure to feed them small meals ("two to four portions a day is ideal" recommends Dr. Spector).
Over eight weeks, Bideawee's and Halo, Purely for Pets' veterinarian staff will monitor our eight participants and record how each does while on a Halo cat food diet. We'll also provide updates about our kitty contestants, so you'll get to follow along as they turn from "couch potatoes" to fit and fabulous felines. Our cat participants need all the support they can get - so if you'd like to help them reach their goals, as well as help the other pets that we care for daily, please click here.
