Scooter's Update
Unfortunately Scooter has had to have his leg amputated. The damage that the pellet gun did to his leg was beyond repair. It took the doctors hours of deliberation before making this difficult decision, but it was felt that this would be the best for Scooter and his future health. Scooter's break had no chance of healing on its own and only posed several additional problems if left untreated. Since he is no longer a pup, Scooter faced developing painful arthritis in his wounded leg.
Scooter's leg was becoming more of a hindrance as the days passed by and he would sometimes forget about his injuries and try to put weight on his bad leg causing him to stumble and fall. We did not want Scooter to suffer any longer. His clumsiness was causing him greater possible injury. Our mission for this poor little guy was to make him as comfortable as possible, and this was not going to happen without the necessary surgery. We had to amputate.
Scooter is currently learning how to adjust to his new lifestyle. He is in excellent spirits and is compensating for his loss by hopping up on his hind legs. We all know that Scooter is grateful every time he jumps up to give our staff kisses. He loves sleeping on top of a mound of four pillows high! He uses his doggy steps to get to the top of this soft bed.
We would like to thank all of our supporters for their generous donations helping Scooter get the necessary medical treatment he needs and the proper care for his rehabilitation. We are so grateful for everything you do for our animals in need.

Scooter's Sad Story
As hard as it is to believe, someone shot this sweet, innocent dog with a pellet gun. At seven years old, seriously injured, and, as we eventually learned, left untreated for some time, Scooter is now in need of serious medical attention-the pellets that lodged in his leg have caused grave damage.
Bideawee rescued this tiny critter from an uncertain fate at the town shelter and committed to giving him a second start and the dedicated medical care he needs-and deserves.
The injuries clearly cause him pain, so he stays off the leg about 90% of the time, but when he does use it, usually by accident because it's "in the way," he causes even more damage and more pain. Unfortunately, the injuries are so severe and so painful, that we cannot repair the leg. We have to amputate.
Animals are remarkably resilient. Scooter will eventually learn to compensate and in the long-run he'll be much better off without the painful reminder of the cruelty that was committed against him. In the short-run, however, he will face a difficult rehabilitation period and need very special care.
Please help Scooter heal. Your support today will help us care for and rehabilitate more victims of cruelty and abuse, giving them a new start at a life filled with love, family, and the joy of being a carefree cat or dog.
Scooter has survived and has a chance to start over, but countless others do not.
Help us care for Scooter and other the victims of cruelty-donate today.
