Silk's Recovery
Thanks to all the generous support and fantastic care she has received, Silk is recovering from her terrible burns. Now that the pain has started to subside, she is even becoming quite playful. Her behavior has been said to be "kitten-y"-evidence she's feeling better and happier.
We do wish she would heal faster, but the last few scabs are clearly itching and causing her discomfort, so she rolls on her back, which sometimes tears the scabs free and has to heal all over again.
In order to avoid this, she is being monitored closely. Silk adores the attention and the moment you approach her, she is in your arms, giving you a huge hug!
She is currently available for adoption in Manhattan, so please contact us if you are interested in making this sweet girl a part of your family.
It is only with your support that we are able to rescue sweet, innocent, injured animals like Silk from the municipal shelters, where they face the threat of euthanasia, and give them a second start at life in a loving home.
Silk was one of the lucky ones, but so many deserve the same chance.
Please help those who need it the most. You can give the gift of a second start today.
Silk's Story
We don't know how this happened to her. She was picked up off the street in this condition, with these horrible burns all over her body. She is yet, another victim of animal cruelty. This little kitty really needs help-the pain she is in is excruciating.
Silk was at the city shelter and they feared they could not give her the care she needed. They worried she would have to be euthanized. They sent Bideawee an email, asking for us to please give her a second start:
Silk came in today with burn marks all over her body. She is three years old and 6 lbs. You would think that she would be aggressive and not let humans touch her, but she is really a sweet and loving cat who needs your help.
When we met her, we saw right away that she truly was the sweet and wonderful cat they described her to be, but we could tell the pain she was experiencing was still more awful than we could imagine.
When Silk arrived at Bideawee, she was immediately rushed to a veterinary exam room. The doctors were very gentle with her as they examined the burns and administered antibiotic cream to everywhere that hurt, which did seem to help with her pain after a little while.
Silk is safe and cared for here at Bideawee, but she is still hurting so much. It is going to take a lot of time, medical attention, and healing time before the pain goes away completely. Everyone at Bideawee is going to need to pay lots of attention to Silk for a long time. We are giving this darling cat the special care she deserves, but it does take a lot of resources to treat her.
Silk loves attention and is always asking to be pet. It just breaks our hearts that we cannot rub her the way she longs to be rubbed because her back still needs to heal. More than anything, we want to see Silk heal so that she can love and be loved in return without any barriers. With your help today, she will one day be able to get the full hugs she asks for on a daily basis.
Please make a donation to help Silk heal so she can get into the loving "forever home" she truly deserves.
Silk was lucky to get another chance at a healthy life with us at Bideawee, but she's still not out of the woods yet. A large part of her body is covered in very painful third-degree burns, which could take months to heal. In the meantime, she is susceptible to infection, dehydration, and even shock. She needs all the help she can get if she is going to heal properly and have the chance she deserves to live a carefree, pain-free life in a home with a loving family.
Donate to help us care for Silk today - she deserves the best care a cat can get!
