Microchips For Pets
A microchip is a tiny coded-chip that is painlessly placed under your pet's skin via a veterinarian's injection in just a matter of seconds. The purpose is to provide permanent identification of your pet so if s/he is lost, stolen, or displaced during a catastrophic event, s/he has a better chance of making it back home to you and your family.
Every animal shelter and most veterinary offices have scanners that read microchips. Your contact information is held in a database that can be accessed by veterinarians and shelter personnel if your pet is brought to them. Unfortunately, lost animals without microchips, or other forms of identification, can end up as "strays" at municipal shelters.
Bideawee offers microchip services to the public every weekday for only $20 per pet, plus registration. Contact one of the Bideawee Veterinary Practices for specific days and hours microchipping clinics are held.
All pets awaiting adoption at the Bideawee Adoption Centers have already been microchipped. If your dog or cat was adopted from Bideawee, please remember to update your pet's registration when you bring your pet home and whenever you relocate.
If you find a lost pet, call your local shelter or vet so that the animal can be scanned for a microchip and returned to its loving home.
