We know your free time is valuable, and we appreciate you choosing to devote part of it to Bideawee. Bideawee offers a large variety of volunteer opportunities from which you can choose on this application. Take a moment and consider where your skills are best matched to make the biggest impact.
Here are some important items you should know before completing Bideawee’s volunteer application:
Commitment & Dedication to the Bideawee Mission
Bideawee’s mission is to promote and support safe, loving and long-term relationships between people and companion animals. Bideawee is seeking volunteers who believe in the mission and will represent Bideawee in a professional and positive manner.
Time Commitment
Bideawee seeks volunteers who can devote a minimum commitment of 6 months. Depending on the job, some volunteer opportunities require a weekly commitment. The success of your assigned project and the welfare of our animals depend on your ability to fulfill your obligation.
References
Each volunteer application must have two references submitted. Reference forms are attached for your convenience. Volunteer applications will not be processed until they are complete.
Age Requirements
Most volunteer opportunities have a minimum age requirement of 18 years or older. This includes volunteers that work with animals and machinery. Foster volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. Please take a look at our volunteer opportunities page for all age requirements.

| Foster Animals Adoption Center | BAW mostly needs foster homes for young animals and some need to be bottle fed; some animals with medical or behavior issues may also benefit from foster care. | Must be 21 years and ready for a commitment to care for foster animals as if they were your own. There is an additional application and interview. |

| Special Events Outreach & Marketing |
Volunteers are needed for special events through the outreach and Marketing Departments. Volunteer candidates must be outgoing and represent Bideawee in a kind and professional manner. | Must be 16 years. Orientation and mentorship program from outreach or marketing department |
| Education &Outreach | The outreach and education departments need assistance setting up for classes, grassroots marketing, administrative support, data entry, etc | Must be 18 years. | Pet Therapy Learning Center | Reach out to the elderly, the disabled, and to ill or abused children with your pet. Clients are encouraged to pet, interact, and play with them. These interactions often result in the improved physical health and mental well-being of the patient. | Must be 21 years. Additional application and screening, including a background check, for this volunteer work. Certified therapy pairs are preferred but certifications offered at some Bideawee sites. Must have your own pet for this. |
| Reading to Dogs Learning Center | This program improves children’s reading & communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. This program helps children learn how to love to read. | Must be 21 years. There is an additional application & most Reading to Dogs pairs (other animals also accepted) usually start out as Pet Therapy volunteers and get promoted to this level. |

Help with gardening, outdoor jobs, mowing, weeding, trimming of bushes, construction, etc. All sites need assistance with minor repairs, minor construction, etc. | Must be 18 years and possess some knowledge of outdoor machinery. |
