Bideawee was recently notified by Blackbaud, the company that hosts our donor database, that they had been the target of a ransomware attack in late May. While Bideawee may or may not have had our information impacted by this attack, we have been assured that the data that may have been compromised includes only names, addresses, and donation history. As an organizational practice, Bideawee does not retain sensitive information such as, social security numbers, credit card numbers, or banking information for any of our supporters. No information of that nature was housed in our database and so was not impacted by this unfortunate incident.

Blackbaud is an industry leader in providing database solutions for the nonprofit industry and have sophisticated cybersecurity measures in place to protect donor data. They have been in communication with their clients and have assured us that they have resolved the issue and ensured that any stolen data has been destroyed. We are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that Blackbaud continues to implement the highest standards of cybersecurity. If you would like more information about the security breach and Blackbaud’s response, please visit their website here.

Please accept my sincere apologies for this incident and know that the security of your personal information is of utmost importance to us. Your ongoing trust and support of Bideawee is what fuels our work, helping to save thousands of animals each year. For that, I thank you.
