Wednesday, August 7, 2013 5:00 PM, Manhattan
59 West 44th Street
New York NY 10036

Join Bideawee and Matilda, the Algonquin Hotel's resident cat, for the Algonquin Hotel Cat Party, presented by Nikki Moustaki, Pet Style Expert and Author. The evening will include a feline fashion show by Ada Nieves for Pets, benefiting Bideawee. All proceeds from the event will go to Matilda’s favorite charity, Bideawee, with a minimum entrance fee of $25.00. Guests are also encouraged to adopt a pet from the Bideawee's Mobile Matchmaking Tour, which will be parked in front of the hotel on the day of event from 3 PM to 7 PM. Each pet adopted will be sent home with a CritterZone Air Purifier and other gifts.

The tradition of having a resident pet at The Algonquin began in the 1930s when a straggly stray cat wandered in through the hotel’s front door looking for food and shelter. Owner Frank Case, the consummate host most famous for inviting Dorothy Parker and her friends to form the legendary Algonquin Round Table in the hotel’s dining room in the ‘20s, welcomed the cat as he did every other guest, and a tradition was born.
