If you had seen Merry arrive at Bideawee, you would instantly understand the urgency of this email.

To see this poor kitten try to move was awful. She was in terrible shape, in agony with multiple wounds, and a horribly infected open fracture of her left front leg. We were all hurting for her and know you would have been too.

We’ll never know exactly what happened to Merry, but from the severity of her worst wound and the gravel that was embedded in it all the way up to her armpit, we suspect she was hit and dragged underneath a car. What was very clear, however, was that she needed to be rushed into emergency surgery to amputate the leg. There was no time to spare.

Thanks to your generosity, we can provide Merry with this urgent surgery and with your continued support we can do the follow-up surgery that may be required for the wounds on her left hind leg. Only then will she be able to fully heal and we can then make sure nothing like this ever, ever happens to her again.

Right now, as you can imagine, she needs extensive veterinary care, further surgery and lots of loving care. I’m hoping you will send a gift of $20 to help us care for her.

We’re doing everything we can for Merry, but as you can imagine, it’s very expensive to provide this level of critical care. And we’re still caring for hundreds of dogs and cats who all need food and veterinary care. And the cold, winter months can be brutal for these homeless pets.

That’s why I’m sending you this urgent email today. We need extra support right now.

Will you help?

Please send the most generous gift you possibly can to help care for Merry and other injured and ill animals. So many strays need veterinary care when they come to us. We can’t turn them away, so we count on your help.

And we are so grateful.
