Bideawee Pets of New York – Oliver - From his Adopter, Katherine
Caring Hearts, Healing Hands - President's Corner by Leslie Granger
My fiancé and I had just moved in together and I really wanted a dog to make our new apartment feel more like a home. My fiancé is in the military and when he isn’t home, it can get pretty lonely. I wanted a companion, and we thought a puppy would bring us closer as a couple. It was the morning before my birthday, and we were browsing a few adoption websites.
Here at Bideawee, we have an animal bill of rights that promises the very best care to every dog and cat that comes through our doors, and every person on our team works incredibly hard to ensure that we are exceeding those standards. We often receive animals who need extensive and prolonged medical care that goes far beyond the everyday spays and neuters, dentals, vaccinations and URI care.
We’re celebrating love this month with a “Free Love” adoption promotion! We’re waiving the adoption fee of all animals six months and older at our Manhattan and Westhampton locations throughout the month of February. There is no shortage of dogs and cats to choose from, and we have new animals coming in every week so check the website for new faces! All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, behaviorally-tested and ready to become the newest members of your family.
I have been volunteering at Bideawee's Westhampton location for a year and half and it's the best part of my week! I do my shifts with my uncle, who also volunteers, and I've recently recruited my boyfriend to be part of the Bideawee volunteer family too! I began as a green volunteer but recently completed my training so that I can walk yellow dogs (who might be a little bigger or pull a little) and it makes me so happy to know that I am helping socialize and exercise the dogs who need it most.
Pick of the Litter - Rugby - Hillary Berryman, Adoption Center Associate
Alum of the Month
Rugby and I have become best friends here at Bideawee. He’s playful, sweet, and wants nothing more than to be around people. His face lights up when he knows it’s playtime, because he loves stuffed animals and the opportunity to earn a few treats. Although Rugby is deaf, it doesn’t stop him from being extremely outgoing; always excited to take a walk and meet new people. I know that he’s going to bring a lot of happiness into his new home! Meet Rugby at our Manhattan location.
