Ohh Ashanti, this little guy is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma! First of all, if you are wondering why he’s giving you that look, it is probably because you’re calling our little boy a girl! We know, with a name like Ashanti, it’s a bit confusing. And the confusion doesn’t end there. Ashanti came to Bideawee three years ago after sustaining a terrible injury on his front paw that left him without two of the bones, giving his paw a flat appearance, and earning him the affectionate nickname “pancake.” Because of his early injury, he has always been slightly fearful of hands, but he is never, ever aggressive. He may give you a little swat if he gets nervous or overstimulated but he doesn’t even use his claws. What makes him even more confusing is that while he can be fearful of hands, he LOVES people and craves attention. He wants to be your only pet, and the center of your world, but his parent will need to be patient with him and understanding of his quirks. He is loved by Bideawee’s staff and volunteers, and when you sponsor this sweet boy, you give him the time, patience and love he needs to come around on his own terms.
