Volunteer and Events Manager, Manhattan
A decades-long New Yorker and lifelong animal lover, Julia began her journey in the animal welfare and rescue field as a volunteer at both the Animal Care Center of Brooklyn and Badass Animal Rescue. Her experience at these organizations so greatly impacted her that she left a career in restaurant management to pursue a graduate degree in animal behavior and science from Unity University. Upon graduating, she immediately accepted a position as an animal care specialist at the Animal Care Center of Manhattan where she was able to apply her curriculum to real life scenarios. It was at the ACC where she truly felt the importance of the relationships between volunteers and staff. With her background in hospitality and her passion for animal care, she felt that this position could not suit her better.
Outside of the rescue, Julia can be found in the ring at Five Points Academy where she trains and competes in Muay Thai, or at home with her own rescue dog, Gordo, forever training him to stop barking at the neighbors.
