My husband and I were devastated when we lost our cat, Tallulah, to cancer in December 2025, exactly 12 years and 15 days since we brought her home from Bideawee. Prior to adopting Tallulah, we adopted our cat, Tweetie, from Bideawee in March 1997. Both were black females; Tweetie was a domestic shorthair and Tallulah was a domestic medium hair.
After the agonizing loss of Tallulah, we weren’t sure whether or not we were going to adopt another cat, but the lingering feeling of emptiness in our household was visceral, so we knew we had to start looking for our next kitty.
We wanted to adopt again from Bideawee since it had brought such joy into our lives twice before. So, every day, we checked the listings for cats available for adoption on your website. We wanted another black female, preferably a domestic shorthair or medium hair kitten, so when we saw the listing for “Chakra” on the evening of February 23rd, we knew she was the one. The following afternoon, we went to meet her with hopes of bringing her home with us. We felt so incredibly fortunate to learn that she was indeed still available for adoption and, only a few hours after arriving, we were leaving with our beautiful new baby, Sofia (formerly Chakra).
The wonderful people at Bideawee have made all three of our adoption experiences an absolute pleasure. They manage to make the process simple yet thorough, and we highly recommend them to anyone who is planning to adopt a pet (even one that’s not a black female domestic shorthair/medium hair cat 😸).
Much like Tallulah did for us after we lost Tweetie and another cat in 2013, Sofia has delivered us from the misery we were lost in before she came into our lives. She brings nothing but pure, unadulterated joy to our lives and to our home, every day.
