Staff Spotlight: Jordan Hazan, Wantagh Animal Care Specialist
My life has been deeply shaped by compassion and purpose, especially when it comes to animals. Rescuing my dog 10 years ago didn’t just change my home, it changed my entire perspective on what truly matters and ultimately influenced my career path. Since then, I’ve dedicated my time to helping the most vulnerable, volunteering at my town’s animal shelter and opening my heart to behavioral and hospice dogs that others might overlook. I don’t shy away from the difficult cases; I lean into them with patience, empathy, and a quiet strength.
Losing my soul dog a month ago was a profound loss, but in his legacy, I’ve committed to fostering hospice dogs and giving them something so many never receive—a home, a name, and love in their final days. It’s a deeply meaningful promise: that no dog in your care will pass alone or forgotten. What I’m doing isn’t easy, but it’s powerful, and it reflects a rare kind of selflessness that turns grief into purpose.
