This Month’s Features
Pet Spotlight: Darcy
Jordan and I grew up with dogs and finally felt ready to get our own, but we really wanted to meet some dogs in person and get to know their personalities before we committed. The day we met Darcy, she was immediately so sweet.
President’s Corner: Bideawee Needs You
Autumn Leaves are Falling, but Our Most Important Season is Just Beginning
As the crisp air sweeps in and the leaves start to turn vibrant shades of red, yellow, and orange, I get so excited about the joys of fall—pumpkin everything, apple picking, cozy sweaters, and warm evenings by the fire with my pups. At Bideawee, while the team also welcomes the beauty of the season, we’re super busy preparing for something even more significant: our most critical fundraising period of the year.
Volunteer Spotlight: Do you love animals AND the people who love them?
So many people ask, “I would love to help care for your cats and dogs, but I really prefer an administrative role at this time. Is there a place for me?” The answer is an emphatic YES!
If you love animals as well as engaging with people, Bideawee’s Westhampton location needs you!
Put those people skills to work at our Adoption Center as a Front Desk volunteer on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm. If you love interacting with the public, this is the role for you! Front Desk volunteers answer the phone, greet and sign in clientele, and do walk throughs with the public interested in adopting. Just imagine – you could be the very first bridge to connecting one of our animals in need to their fur-ever home!
Interested? We’d love to hear from you! Fill out our Westhampton location application to learn more.
Kibbe Spotlight: Michaela Grob
For more than 120 years, Bideawee has been supporting pets and the people who love them. My husband, Tim, and I found solace in their services as we navigated life with our eleven beloved animal companions—a mix of two dogs and nine cats. Our commitment to their well-being, regardless of life’s twists and turns, led us to seek out a solution that would guarantee their care in our absence. For more than 120 years, Bideawee has been supporting pets and the people who love them. Pick of the Litter: Heidi
My Pick of the Litter for October is kitty, Heidi! Heidi has such a big personality and knows exactly what she wants, how she wants it, and when she wants it. She’s always keeping us entertained (and on our toes) with her little antics and entertaining play style, and we’re pretty sure she views us as humble servants who bring her meals and operate her toys. She’s a little diva who knows her worth and I love that about her. Her ideal adopter should be someone who will find her sassiness and demands endearing, as we all know she’s got it in her to let her walls down and commit to a mutual relationship once she gets to know you. She’s a staff favorite, and she never fails to put a smile on our faces.
Staff Spotlight: Karen Rodriquez
Adoption Associate, Chelsea
Hi, my name is Karen and I’m an Adoption Associate at Bideawee’s Manhattan location. I’ve been working at Bideawee since May of 2023. I grew up in Mexico where there were many stray dogs. Even as a small child, my heart went out to those dogs, and I could often be found feeding and spending time with them.
